Excerpt:
Alusia smiles wanly. “What happened in Kooram?” she asks. “There was a party. We were dancing. Seamus and I were celebrating our engagement...” I pause, ashamed. He sits beside me, unaware of my role in this, oblivious to my own deception. “It was my fault.” Seamus takes my hand. “Alondra, stop. You know this has nothing to do with you.” “It has everything to do with her,” Alusia interrupts. “And her mother.” “Look, although Alondra seems thankful for whatever you want to share with her, I don't care what these secrets are. This is not her fault and she does not need you blaming her.” Seamus's anger is new to me. I have been so amazed by his calm, his kindness; he is more like a Demorian now than I have ever seen him, and I have watched him cut a man's throat. Alusia sighs. “I do not mean to assign blame. But we can no longer pretend that this was a rogue attack, that these events have not culminated in bringing you here, that fate has not worked its magic to get this book into her hands.” She runs her fingers along the book on her lap. “It's fine,” I say. “But it was not fate. Maybe I did not make the only bad choices, but choices got us here. And I, for one, am tired of hearing about fate.” “The attack,” Seamus continues. “It was sudden. A siren spell warned us before the mages were slaughtered. I don't know how they breached the Demorian guard, but without the dying spell of an elder mage, no one would be sitting here right now with you.” “So you ran?” Alusia asks. “I don't run,” I argue. “In fact, I am only here because someone kidnapped me in my sleep.” “It was her father's wish,” Seamus mumbles. “The forces came quickly. We spread the word to meet in the caves and Kooram split into two groups: those who were running for the caves, and those who would stay behind. My parents were with those running, but I stayed. Ereditus, our commander, rallied the troops. Seamus was already by my side. My friend, Lormander...” I stop and think of that moment. Sanara's face, broken by the choice he was making, is etched into my memory. I watched her fingers slowly fall from his hand and the agony in her glance as she turned back to see him one last time tore me asunder. And now, somewhere, are they reunited? Did she lead everyone to Tallagut? Did he stay behind in the caves to face his death, remembering her kiss as the blade entered his heart? I choke on the images and tears rest on the precipice of my eyelids. “We stayed,” I repeat. “There were so many of them. It was chaos. Smoke billowed from the streets, from our homes, from everything that was my childhood. I saw young boys, thinking they were brave, split in twain as the attackers stepped over the corpses, trailing death. What I remember most was the sound. The crash of swords, the screams of the fallen, the crackle of burning. The details are hazy. We left Kooram in ruins when we saw that we were outclassed. I walked through fields of carnage to the caves, only to wake on the other side, in a mirror world, yet untouched.” “The king, he asked that we come here. He said you had the answers, the only weapon we could use against him,” Seamus adds. My shattered body sits beside him, but my mind and my soul are still with the dead. “I am an old woman, and a forgotten mage,” Alusia says. “I am also the keeper of secrets and memories. I do not forge steel. My only weapon is knowledge. But that I have in abundance, and I believe it is time Alondra take her share.” She rises from the dusty chair and approaches. I sense my hands as they lift to take the book she offers; the leather cover is hardened, but smooth to touch. I run my hand along the spine and trace the embossed seal. “Please take this to your room. You will need time, and you will need privacy. When you are done, I will be waiting for your questions.”

Blog Tour: Bloodlust

Title: BLOODLUST
Author: Nicole Zoltack
Genre: NA Epic Fantasy Romance
Hosted by: Lady Amber's Tours

Book Description:

In a world torn by prejudice and hatred, six races struggle for supremacy.

Barbarian-Princess Ivy is unwilling to allow her father to provoke the other races into war and forms an unlikely alliance with Lukor the goliath to save her people from utter destruction. Unbeknownst to her, Lukor blames the barbarians for murdering his sister and plans on sabotaging her goal.

Almost despite each other, they grow to respect each other on their journey to decode secret messages from the trolls. But nothing Ivy can do will prevent the war as her father is blinded by bloodlust and incites it himself. Not even killing him and becoming Barbaroness can stop the tide. And when Bloodlust claims Ivy, forcing her to kill everyone in her path, she must make a choice to destroy even Lukor, who she may have started to fall for and him her in return.

Excerpt:

The coolness of the water did little to sooth her soul, but she relished washing all the same. After dunking her head beneath the water, she flipped her hair back.
Another heart beat. She slid closer to her sword, hidden beneath her clothes as she scanned the mountainside. No one.
A form stepped out from behind a tree. Another few paces and he almost left the shadows behind. Her breathing became slower as she took in his garb. A barbarian. One she did not immediately recognize. He stood tall, impossibly so, his muscles bulging against his tunic.
Whoever he was, he did not belong here. Watching her bathe. She who was to be their barbaroness.
A rush of adrenaline coursed through her, and she was dressed and armed faster than one could blink twice. The shield rested lightly on her back, its weight felt unfamiliar.
"Who are you?" she demanded, pointing the tip of her blade toward him.
Calmly, coolly, as if he had no reason to fear — how she would relish correcting his thinking on that point — he advanced, face still hidden by shadows, his hands in a defenseless manner. As if she could believe he did not have a weapon or five on his person.
"I am merely thirsty." His voice was smooth, but there was an undercurrent to it that piqued her curiosity. There were few barbarians she did not know. Who was he?
But now was not the time for introductions, handsome as he was. "Find another source of water."
Still he advanced, and so she rushed toward him. Too many people had defied her as of late. The arc of her sword swooshed by and clanged against a sword he removed from his back. They fought on level with each other, neither having the clear advantage. That he held his own against her both unnerved and enthralled her. For years she had trained and honed her skill, perfecting every weapon, until no other barbarian could best her. Even her kicks and punches were lethal. A long time had passed since she last faced a worthy opponent.
And worthy he was. He used his height on her to swing wide arcs, which she had to dance away from. His smoothness with his weapon, the grace he exhibited... Perhaps I have met my match.
Match. The term her mother had often used when describing those she thought Ivy should consider to be her barbaron, when her time to rule claim. The notion of marriage was one she never considered seriously, but this barbarian had her on her toes, fighting for her life, and she loved it, embraced it. How odd this felt, especially considering she did not even know his name.
Not that she had meant match the way Mother had. An equal, perhaps? But there was no equal to a barbarian-princess.
The battle turned from foolhardy to serious when her sword came within inches of slicing off his ear. His eyes narrowed, and his breathing changed. Had she triggered his Bloodlust? In the darkness of the forest, she still had not clearly glimpsed his face yet.
His huge hand grabbed her wrist and crushed it. Still, she held on, refusing to be unarmed. His other hand dropped his sword and gripped her neck. He dragged her to him.
And that's when she smelled him. Beneath the scent of the stolen tunic he wore, his stench rolled over her, filling her nostrils and revealing who he truly was.
Not a barbarian after all.
But a goliath.

*** Kj Says ***
Barbarian-Princess Ivy doesn’t listen well, her father tells her not to do something, she works her way around him and does it anyway, causing her to be in trouble constantly. She shoots a messenger bird and finds a scroll, hides it and plans to find a way to decipher it so she can announce her findings to her father. On her way to find someone who can help her she literally runs into Lukor, a goliath with no love of barbarians. They band together for the immediate threat of trolls attacking, but then strike a deal for Lukor to take her to someone who can tell her what the scroll says. As they journey they find feelings for each other. What will happen to the two? Will their own kill them or will they find a way to deal with a common goal?
I didn’t realize that this book was a love story, I kind of rolled my eyes a bit and set in to read. I was happy to find a fascinating story of two very different people falling in love. It wasn’t sweet, or ohhhh how cute in any way. It was a gritty fight for your own and try to do right by your race. To try and deal with the fact that your own people will probably never recognize that love and kill you. Nicole Zoltack created oh so real scenes in my head that were as awe inspiring as they were bloody. People fighting against all odds, trying to align themselves with other races that they didn’t think would help at all. All in all I truly liked this book and will recommend it to fantasy lovers who enjoy epic tales. I thank Nicole Zoltack and Lady Amber for making this book available for me to read and review, I enjoyed it.

Nicole Zoltack loves to write in many genres, especially romance, whether fantasy, paranormal, or regency. When she’s not writing about knights, superheroes, or zombies, she loves to spend time with her loving husband and three energetic young boys. She enjoys riding horses (pretending they’re unicorns, of course!) and going to the PA Renaissance Faire, dressed in garb. She’ll also read anything she can get her hands on. Her current favorite TV show is The Walking Dead. To learn more about Nicole and her writing, visit http://NicoleZoltack.blogspot.com.

*** Kj Says ***
I was a little in awe of how long the audio book was, it seemed as if it was very detailed. From a descriptive standpoint it was very detailed. It was if the author had been there and was describing it through her own eyes. I did have a bit of a hard time listening all at once, too much info to process so I slowed down, listened and then relaxed. It went much better after that.
I loved Kaliel and Krishani, they had unbelievable love for each other, the kind that never goes away. They were willing to do anything to keep that love, no matter what the cost was, and in the end the cost was great.
It is very hard for me to describe this story, it is one of those things you have to hear or read yourself. I did wish that the narrator, although a wonderful voice, had a little bit more emotion to her voice. At times the story fell a little flat when I felt it should be very exciting. That is my opinion only, and does not detract from the actual story.
Rhiannon Paille has a wonderful way of describing things, so clearly you almost feel like you are right there. I will go on record as saying that this series is an epic one, takes a talented writer to make this kind of magic. I want to thank Rhiannon Paille and Girls Heart Books for the opportunity to listen to this epic tale.

Rhiannon is an up and coming Indie Author that writes Young Adult Fantasy books and some non fiction. She has a PhD in Metaphysical Science and Parapsychology. When she’s not writing books she’s reading minds, singing karaoke, burning dinner and sipping iced cappuccino despite her allergy to coffee.  In this wonderfully written, heart warming tale of family, when mom comes to visit it brings all sorts of different levels of excitement to Venice Beach. From trying to save a tree, to meeting new people, and helping everyone along the way, Virginia seems to be a mover and a shaker, Erinn way too serious, and Suzanna paying a little too much attention to an old flame. What will Virginia do? Will Erinn and Suzanna weather their issues?
I didn’t know what to think at first, this book just so wasn’t what I expected. I fully imagined this story to be just a romance, I was so very shocked when I was pulled into a tale of family and how they interacted with others in a close knit little community. I cannot say enough good about this book, it was truly enjoyable from beginning to end. I would like to thank Celia Bonaduce and Girls Heart Books for making this book available to me to read and review, it was a pleasure!

**Not for readers under the age of 18+. Contains language, explicit sex, and adult situations.**

Kieran Donovan has always been a doormat to the women in his life. Begging his wife not to leave after finding her in bed with not one—but five men—only provides further proof of that.

In need of an escape from an empty house and a broken heart, Kieran heads to Midtown to see his estranged brother, Liam. There he meets Shayne Wickham, Liam’s best friend. Shayne’s dark and sexy with a wild streak a mile long and a sexual appetite for things Kieran’s never even dreamed of doing. Kieran’s never seen himself as dominant in any aspect of his life. But when Shayne submits herself to him, it ignites an inner strength and hunger he never knew he had—and feelings Shayne didn’t know she could have. So used to keeping others at an arm’s length, the ease with which she finds herself trusting Kieran is both exciting and unsettling. Could Kieran be someone she could finally trust her heart to—or will he leave her scarred like everyone else?

Just another mark on her skin.
